Emergency Services

Hobby Senior Squadron, a senior squadron, is dedicated primarily to Emergency Services operations within Texas, or when called to help elsewhere.  We perform these services for state and local agencies as well as the federal government, either in our role as an auxiliary of the USAF, or in our corporate role as a nonprofit organization.  CAP Emergency Services consists of Search and Rescue, Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Services.

Search and Rescue

Traditionally known for our Search and Rescue expertise, CAP flies more than 85 percent of all federal inland search-and-rescue missions directed by the USAF Rescue Coordination Center at Tyndall AFB, Florida.  Nearly 100 people are saved each year by CAP members.

Disaster Relief and Humanitarian Services

CAP also provides air and ground transportation and an extensive national radio communications network.  Our members fly disaster-relief officials to remote locations and provide manpower and leadership to local, state and national disaster-relief organizations pursuant to formal agreements with many government and humanitarian relief agencies.  Members also fly humanitarian missions, usually transporting time-sensitive medical materials including blood and human tissue in support of the Red Cross.
